Who you’re buying from

What you get

A PDF file, The Family File (UK edition 2026), for £9.99, paid once by card through Stripe. The price includes any tax due. As soon as payment is confirmed you can download the file, and we email your personal download link to the address you paid with. The link works for at least a year, and we’ll re-send it on request.

Your licence

One purchase covers one household. You may keep copies on your own devices, print as many copies and extra pages as your household needs, and give a copy to the people you’d want to have it — your executor, an attorney, a family member who’d be helping. You may not sell it, publish it, or share the blank file outside your household.

Your right to cancel, and why we ask you to waive it

Normally you have 14 days to cancel an online purchase. With a digital download, that right ends once the download starts — but only if you have agreed to that first. That is what the tick-box before payment is for: you ask for the download straight away, and you acknowledge that you lose the 14-day right to cancel once it begins.

Refunds

The Family File is delivered the moment you pay, so we don’t offer refunds if you change your mind — that is what you agree to with the tick-box before payment. Please look at the free sample pages first; they show exactly what you’re buying.

This doesn’t affect your legal rights. If the file is faulty or not as described, you’re entitled to a repair or replacement, or a refund if that isn’t possible, under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Email hello@preparedbritain.co.uk and we’ll put it right.

What The Family File is not

It is not a will, a power of attorney or any other legal document, and nothing written in it has legal force. It is general information to help you organise your household’s records; it is not legal, financial, tax or medical advice. We check the guidance in it against official sources, but services, rules and numbers change — the current list of services is kept at Useful UK services.

Keeping it safe

A completed file is sensitive. It is designed so that you never write passwords, PINs, alarm codes or full card numbers in it; please don’t. Keep it where you keep your other important documents. We never see what you write in it: the PDF is filled in on your own device and nothing in it is sent to us.

Your data

Stripe processes your payment; we never see your card details. We keep the email address you paid with so that we can send your download link and tell you about updates to the file, and you can unsubscribe from those at any time. See our privacy policy.

The law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you can also bring proceedings in your local courts.
