What this tells you
Each gauge reports the rain that fell in the last 15 minutes. A jump in gauges recording rain, or a high heaviest-total, is an early sign of the intense rainfall that can lead to surface-water and river flooding. After a dry spell, hard ground sheds water fast — so heavy rain returning to drought-hit areas can flood quickly. Pair this with the live flood and drought pages for the fuller picture.
Reservoir stocks are currently 78.8% of capacity.
