BWT In-Line Water Filter Kit review
BWT In-Line Drinking Water Filter Kit DWFKIT
By Tom Calder
A straightforward, budget inline carbon filter that tackles chlorine taste, odour and sediment without the plumbing complexity or waste water of reverse osmosis. Treat it as a taste-and-convenience upgrade, not a water-safety measure — it isn't sold as removing lead or nitrate.
- Best for
- Renters and small kitchens wanting an affordable, low-fuss dedicated tap for better-tasting drinking water.
- Skip it if
- You're in a pre-1970s home with suspected lead pipework or want certified removal of heavy metals…

Researched, not used. We haven't used this product. This review is built from the maker's specifications, owner reports and our own sizing.
What we like
- Genuinely DIY-friendly install — around an hour by our estimate — using a self-piercing saddle valve and push-fit hoses
- Low running cost — a single DWFCART cartridge covers up to 2,000 litres or 6 months
- Compact inline housing fits tight under-sink cupboards; includes its own quarter-turn chrome tap
Worth knowing
- Carbon-only cartridge — no stated removal of lead, nitrate or fluoride, so it doesn't address pre-1970s lead-pipe risk
- The kit ships without a check valve and BWT's manual makes no backflow-prevention statement — fitters should add one to meet the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999 before connecting to the mains

Who shouldn't buy this
Skip this if you're in a pre-1970s home with suspected lead pipework or want certified removal of heavy metals or nitrate — you need a certified lead-reduction filter or reverse osmosis system, not a carbon-only inline kit.
