A genuine step up from a basic digital thermometer, and it shows: readings in about three seconds and a colour-coded result matched to your child's age band, which matters when you're trying to read a wriggly toddler at 3am. It costs more than the simplest options, but it's the type most UK doctors and health visitors use themselves.

- Reads in around 3 seconds — much easier with an unsettled or unwell child than holding still under an arm
- Age Precision sets the right fever threshold for the child's age band (0–3 months, 3–36 months, 36 months+) and shows it colour-coded, so you're not left guessing what the number means
- Doubles as the whole household's thermometer, not just for the baby
Worth knowing
- Costs more up front than a basic digital thermometer, and the ongoing cost doesn't stop at purchase — every reading needs a fresh Hygiene Cap, and reviewers flag the refill cost as the main gripe
