Two thousand adjustable lumens, a 270° PIR zone and a 1080p camera with two-way talk and a 105dB siren, all in one fitting — a genuinely convenient package if you are already in the Ring ecosystem. Two caveats before you buy: Ring publishes no IP rating for this unit, describing it only as 'weather resistant' in its own wording, and the recording and video history that make the camera useful sit behind a Ring Home subscription. Note too that this is the 1080p model, not the 1536p Floodlight Cam Pro.

Our review
Ring's Wired Plus replaces an ordinary outside light with two heads giving 2,000 lumens, a 1080p camera, a speaker and microphone and a 105-decibel siren, all fed from the existing lighting cable. The fact that matters most is that it is a cloud camera: without a Ring subscription you get a live view and alerts but no saved clips. It suits a household that already runs a Ring doorbell or alarm and has a wired light position to replace.
What the numbers mean
Ring's UK page lists 2,000 lumens at 3000K, a warm white rather than the cool 4000K of most security floods, with brightness adjustable in the app. The camera records 1080p HD with colour night vision and Pre-Roll, Ring's name for the moments captured just before a motion event, across a 140-degree horizontal and 80-degree vertical view. Motion detection reaches across 270 degrees, far wider than the lens, with customisable zones so a pavement or a neighbour's drive can be excluded; our catalogue lists the sensors as PIR. Two-way talk uses the built-in speaker and microphone, and the siren is rated at 105 dB at 10 cm and set off from the app rather than automatically. The unit is 24.6 by 29.9 by 17.9 cm on a 12 cm mounting base, works from -20°C to 50°C and joins 2.4GHz Wi-Fi only, with 2 Mbps of upload recommended per device.
Fitting it to a British wall
This is hardwired to 100 to 240V AC, with no battery variant, so it needs an existing wired light position. Ring recommends professional installation and says it must be installed according to local electrical regulations; the box holds the camera, a mounting bracket, tools and screws and a quick start guide. It mounts to a wall or, upside-down, to a ceiling or eave where wiring exists. On weather Ring says only 'Weather Resistant' and the temperature range; no IP rating is published, so where you have a choice give it some shelter. In a power cut it is off like every mains light and the camera with it; a battery lantern from our power cut lights page is the honest backup.
The subscription, in Ring's October 2026 prices
Without a plan you get live view, instant notifications and two-way talk, and nothing is saved: Ring's page says missed videos cannot be reviewed. Ring Solo covers one device for £4.99 a month or £49.99 a year with up to 180 days of video history plus person, package and vehicle alerts. Ring Multi at £7.99 a month covers every Ring device at one address, Ring Pro at £15.99 a month adds intelligent features such as video descriptions, and 24/7 continuous recording is an add-on at £3 a month per camera, for eligible cameras on any plan; check the Wired Plus is eligible before counting on it. A 30-day trial starts at setup unless the address already has a plan.
How it compares
The Philips Hue Secure Floodlight Camera is brighter at 2,250 lumens, can change colour, carries an IP65 camera on an IP44 body, works without a plan for live view and alerts, but needs a Hue Bridge and runs only to 45°C. The LAP Weyburn gives 5,000 lumens, IP65 and a three-year guarantee with no camera, and Luceco's Essence gives 2,100 lumens, IP65 and a 180-degree PIR to 8 metres with no app, hub or fee. Living with it
Ring gives a one-year limited warranty that includes theft protection, and commits to software security updates for at least four years after the device is last sold as new. Our catalogue lists Ring's Floodlight Cam Pro at 1536p; this one records 1080p. On 21 October 2026 Ring's own UK store showed both colours sold out and pointed buyers to other retailers, so stock and price move around; our catalogue has seen street prices well below Ring's own, especially around Prime Day and Black Friday.
Our verdict
Buy it if you already pay for a Ring plan, have a wired light position over a drive or back door, and want one fitting to light, record and shout. Skip it if you want light alone, where a PIR flood costs a fraction and carries a longer guarantee, or if you object to a monthly fee for your own footage; and do not put it on a wall that takes the full weather without a published IP rating to lean on.
