Ring Stick Up Cam Battery (3rd Gen) review

Households already using Alexa or other Ring devices who want matching hardware and don't mind an ongoing subscription.

By Tom Calder · Price last checked 20 Sep 2026, 12:29 BST · price-tracked

Our verdict
3.3 / 5

A well-known, easy-to-set-up camera that fits neatly into an existing Ring or Alexa ecosystem, but its 1080p resolution is behind the newer 2K and 4K rivals in this list. There's no way to avoid the subscription — footage only exists in the cloud, so the £4.99-a-month Basic plan is effectively part of the running cost, not an optional extra.

Check price at Amazon

As an Amazon Associate, PreparedBritain earns from qualifying purchases. We may earn a commission when you buy, or a fee when you request a quote, through our links — it never affects what we recommend. Amazon prices come from Amazon's own product data and show the date and time they were retrieved. Prices at other retailers are checked by us, less often. Prices and stock can change at any time, so always check the retailer's price before you buy.

What we like
  • Works natively with Alexa and the wider Ring device family, including doorbells and chimes
  • Removable battery pack means you can swap and recharge without taking the whole camera down
  • Well-established brand with a mature app and long track record
Worth knowing
  • No local storage option at all — footage only exists if you pay for Ring Protect
  • 1080p resolution is the lowest tier in this comparison, alongside Blink
  • UK street price varies by tens of pounds between retailers, so the RRP isn't a reliable guide

Who shouldn't buy this

Skip this if you want to avoid an ongoing subscription entirely — the Tapo C420S2 or a Reolink model store footage locally for free.

How this review works

Our rating is a considered spec-and-evidence verdict: we verify every specification against at least two independent sources, re-check the UK price on a schedule where we can track it automatically, and say plainly who a product isn't for.
