A compact, genuinely quiet suitcase inverter with a Hyundai-derived engine, a clean pure sine-wave output safe for electronics, and reassuring UK aftersales and a 2-year warranty. At around 2kW continuous through a single 230V socket it is a sensible entry-level backup, provided you keep your expectations modest.

You want whole-home backup, need to run high-wattage appliances, or want something you can safely use indoors — petrol generators must run outside and well away from the house because of carbon-monoxide risk, so a battery power station suits indoor use far better.
