A dependable last-resort beacon rather than a messenger — it has one job, sending a 406MHz SOS with your GPS position to search and rescue, and it does that well with no ongoing cost. UK owners must register it free with the UK Beacon Registry before use; that's a legal requirement, separate from the purchase.
