Genuine cold-space capability — desiccant, rated to 1°C, with a three-year warranty — for sensible money, and it quotes 7.5 L/day at an explicitly stated 20°C/60% so the figure means something. The trade-off is in the name: 'Simple' is the rotary-dial version, with no electronic controls or display. If you want the machine to sit in a cold space and just run, that is a fair swap.

Our review
A dial-operated desiccant dehumidifier that pulls up to 7.5 litres a day at 20°C and 60% humidity and keeps working down to 1°C, where compressor machines give up. The number to weigh is 580 W on Turbo: desiccants are hungry for electricity and hand the energy back as warm air. It suits an unheated garage, conservatory, caravan or spare room, run on its quiet Economy setting.
What the numbers mean
A desiccant unit draws air through a slowly turning zeolite wheel, then heats a segment of the wheel to drive the moisture off into the tank, with no refrigerant and a warmer exhaust. EcoAir rates it at 7.5 litres a day at 20°C and 60% relative humidity, closer to a real British room than the 30°C and 80% figure compressor makers quote, and it is rated to work from 1 to 35°C in rooms up to 60 m². At the full rated 7.5 litres a day the 2-litre tank would fill in about six and a half hours; a full-tank light shuts it down, and a 12 mm drain hose is in the box.
In a cold British space
This is the machine for the places a compressor unit is not rated for: a garage, a conservatory, a laid-up caravan or an unheated room after a leak. The manual's method is Turbo for two or three days to pull a very damp room down, then Economy for daily running, placed in the dampest room or somewhere central with the doors open. Laundry mode runs continuously, and EcoAir says to use it for short spells only and not unattended, with washing on a rack at least 40 cm away and never draped over the unit. How it compares
Pro Breeze's 10L desiccant quotes up to 10 litres a day at the same 20°C and 60% into a 3-litre tank, with a digital humidistat, but its manual lists 370 to 620 W and it is rated at 44 dB. EcoAir's own DD3 Classic MK3 steps up to 11 litres a day and a 4.2-litre tank at 420 to 735 W; both are in the comparison. For a heated room the MeacoDry Arete One 12L compressor unit is quieter at 35 to 38 dB(A), but extracts 5.23 litres a day at 20°C and 60% and is rated only from 5°C.
Living with it
EcoAir lists 300 W in its low mode and 580 W in high, which at the Ofgem price cap unit rate of 26.32p per kWh for October to December 2026 is about 8p an hour on Economy and 15p an hour on Turbo. It weighs 6 kg, measures 290 by 475 by 175 mm, and the maker quotes 34 dB(A) on Economy and 47 on Turbo. The humidistat is a rotary dial: Off, Low for around 70% humidity, Medium for around 50%, High for around 40%, and Laundry for continuous running. The silver-treated filter is brushed or vacuumed every two weeks, not washed, and EcoAir recommends a new one every six months. The warranty is three years; returns direct from EcoAir must be notified within 14 days, with postage at your cost.
Safety
There is no refrigerant to leak, but the heating element means it should be treated like a small heater: EcoAir says to keep 40 cm clear on every side, never cover it, never dry clothes on it, and never run it in a confined cupboard, a bathroom or near flammable vapours. Do not move it or pull the tank while it is running, and EcoAir warns against leaving it running or plugged in unattended for long periods. If you use the drain hose, keep its far end from freezing, because ice backs water up into the unit.
Our verdict
Buy it for a cold or unheated space, or as a winter laundry dryer in a room you do not sit in, where the simple dial and the warm exhaust suit the job. Look elsewhere if the room is centrally heated and lived in, where a compressor unit such as the Arete One is quieter and has no heating element to power, or if you want a humidity readout and app control.

Don't buy it if you want digital control and a readout — the Pro Breeze 12L has an automatic humidity sensor and display, though only for heated rooms.

Yes. EcoAir rates it from 1 to 35°C, which is the reason to choose a desiccant. EcoAir publishes only the 20°C figure of 7.5 litres a day, and extraction falls as the air cools.
