ReadyWise 1,440-Serving Package review

ReadyWise 1,440-Serving Long-Term Food Supply (12 buckets)

By Tom Calder

Our verdict · Researched
4.0 / 5

Six lunch and dinner buckets plus six breakfast buckets: 310,560 kcal, about 155 adult-days, so roughly five months for one adult or five weeks for four. At ReadyWise's prices on 10 October 2026 it cost £439 less than the same twelve buckets bought singly, and less per adult-day than ReadyWise's 2,160- and 4,320-serving packages. Official advice plans for an emergency lasting a few days, and this needs about 1,440 cups of water (roughly 350 litres) and room for twelve buckets, so buy it only if months of storage is the plan.

Our review

Twelve ReadyWise buckets in one order: six of lunch and dinner mains, six of breakfast cereals and granola, 1,440 servings and 310,560 calories sealed for up to 25 years. The figure that decides it is 1,440 cups of water, roughly 345 litres, because every serving needs one. It suits a household that has settled on months of stored food and has somewhere cool and dry for 91kg of buckets.

What the numbers mean

ReadyWise quotes 172 days of food at 1,800 calories a day. At the 2,000 calories an adult is usually planned around it is about 155 adult-days: five months for one person, or 39 days for a family of four. A serving averages 216 calories, so a day is roughly nine servings, not the three meals the word suggests. The six mains buckets hold 24,360 calories each across 13 recipes, mostly pasta, rice, potato and soup, in 30 four-serving pouches; the six breakfast buckets hold 27,400 calories each across just four recipes, two cereals and two granolas, so more than half the calories in the package are breakfast.

ReadyWise lists the whole order at 200lb, about 91kg. The pouches are its Metallyte metallised polypropylene film, which ReadyWise says is chosen for its oxygen and moisture barrier.

Feeding a household from it

ReadyWise's FAQ says each serving needs about one cup of water, so nine servings a day is roughly 2.2 litres per adult for food alone, before anyone drinks. Over the whole package that is the 1,440 cups on the label, about 345 litres. Our water storage guide covers how to hold that much. Hot water speeds rehydration and ReadyWise says many of the meals also work with cold, which matters if the hob is off; see cooking without power.

Every pouch opens to four servings and ReadyWise gives no figure for how long an opened pouch keeps, so a family of four fits the format and a single person does not. The common allergens are milk, soy and wheat, and the menu is carbohydrate-led. Plan on tins of protein and vegetables alongside it.

How it compares

Each mains bucket is the ReadyWise 120-serving lunch and dinner bucket at 24,360 calories, about 12 adult-days; the breakfast bucket is on our emergency food page at 27,400 calories. ReadyWise's 4,320-serving package is 36 buckets, 913,440 calories and about 327kg; our comparison found that three of these 1,440 packages held more calories for less money at ReadyWise's prices on 10 October 2026. For a few days of cover, a single 60-serving bucket or a shelf of tins you rotate does the job.

Storage, delivery and returns

ReadyWise's FAQ puts optimal storage in a cool, dry place such as a basement at 50 to 55 degrees; the FAQ gives no unit, and in Fahrenheit that is about 10 to 13°C. Heat, moisture, oxygen and light are what shorten shelf life, so a loft or a garage that swings with the weather is the wrong spot, and the 25 years is an up-to figure that assumes those conditions. Twelve buckets each around 7kg stack, but 91kg wants a ground floor.

The seller is ReadyWise UK Limited, which says it ships within two business days with DPD. Returns can be requested within 30 days of receipt for unopened, unused goods with proof of purchase; open buckets or pouches cannot go back. The same policy says sale items cannot be returned, and the package was marked as on sale when we checked on 21 October 2026, so confirm the return terms with ReadyWise before ordering 91kg of food.

Our verdict

Buy it if a household has decided that months of food is the plan, has the cool dry space and the stored water to match, and would otherwise buy twelve buckets one at a time. Do not buy it as a first step: official guidance plans for an emergency of a few days, and our food storage guide shows how far a single bucket or a tinned-food shelf gets you. If the breakfast-heavy split bothers you, buy mains buckets singly instead.

Who shouldn't buy this

Don't buy it if you're building the few-days kit official advice describes: one 60-serving bucket or a shelf of rotated tins covers that for a fraction of the price.
