A proven, rugged one-way satellite messenger with a long track record, but it's not a PLB and it's not two-way — you send an SOS or a status update, you don't get a reply. Cheaper to buy than two-way rivals, but the mandatory subscription — plus the activation and plan fees on top of the headline monthly price — is the real ongoing cost.

Who shouldn't buy this
Skip it if you want confirmation help is actually coming, or need to send/receive route updates on a solo trip — a two-way device (SPOT X, Garmin inReach) is the safer choice, and if you just need SOS with no subscription at all, a 406MHz PLB is cheaper long-term despite the higher upfront cost.
