BLUETTI AC240P review

BLUETTI AC240P Portable Power Station

By Tom Calder

Our verdict · Researched
4.0 / 5

BLUETTI's 2kWh-class workhorse: 1,843Wh and 2,400W from four UK sockets, a 30A RV port for campervans, and room to add up to four B210P batteries for over 10kWh in all. BLUETTI markets it as IP65 dust- and splash-resistant, but its own manual says not to use it in the rain, so treat that as protection from the odd splash. At 33kg it's heavy for what it holds, and on 10 October 2026 its £1,099 bought less capacity than the £899 Elite 200 V2, so it makes most sense if you'll expand it.

Our review

BLUETTI's weather-resistant 2kWh-class station: 1,843Wh, 2,400W through four UK sockets, an IP65 shell and 33kg. What matters most is where it is going: it is built to grow to 10,443Wh with four B210P batteries and to shrug off dust and splashes in a van or outbuilding, and it is heavy for a hallway. It suits someone planning a bigger system, not a one-box buyer.

What the numbers mean

1,843Wh is just under two units of electricity; by our planning method (90% depth of discharge, 85% inverter efficiency, 10W for the unit) about 1,410Wh reaches the sockets. 2,400W covers everything on a 13A plug except a 3kW kettle. The manual publishes no surge figure but an overload table: 2,500 to 3,000W for two minutes, 3,000 to 3,600W for ten seconds. Power Lifting mode accepts purely resistive loads of 2,400 to 3,600W while still delivering 2,400W. BLUETTI's UK page rates the cells at 3,500+ cycles to 80% in Silent mode. IP65 means dust-tight and resistant to low-pressure water jets, which BLUETTI's own FAQ says is not the same as waterproof.

In a UK power cut

By our runtime method over the appliance-draw dataset, a fridge-freezer lasts 23 to 64 hours, a chest freezer 32 to 45 hours, a router 2 to 3 days, a CPAP on blower alone 47 to 101 hours (17 to 45 hours with a heated humidifier) and a gas combi boiler's electrics 11 to 31 hours. Fridge-freezer, router, four LED bulbs and a charging phone together give 8.5 to 25 hours; with the combi boiler, 5 to 16 hours, after an electrician's changeover. A 12V/30A port can feed a campervan's 12V system directly at up to 360W. A 3kW kettle needs Power Lifting and boils slowly at 2,400W. As a UPS the switchover is 15ms or less, and the warranty excludes use as a high-performance UPS for servers or medical equipment.

How it compares

The BLUETTI Elite 200 V2 holds 2,073.6Wh, gives 2,600W, weighs 24.2kg and is rated for 6,000+ cycles, but has no RV port, no IP rating and no expansion. The EcoFlow DELTA 3 Max Plus is the expandable rival: 2,048Wh, 3,000W, 22.1kg, a 10ms switchover and growth to 10kWh, again with no weather rating. The Apex 300 is the step up for a house: 2,764.8Wh, 3,840W, 19.35kWh of expansion, 38kg. More on BLUETTI power stations and home backup power.

Living with it

Three mains charging modes: Standard and Silent at 800W (full in 130 and 140 minutes), and Turbo at 2,200W (0 to 80% in 45 minutes, full in 70). Turbo needs an extra cable sold separately, and the page elsewhere says 2,300W and 50 minutes. A full charge costs about 49p at the Ofgem price cap rate of 26.32p per kWh for October to December 2026, before losses. Solar input is 1,200W at 11 to 60V, and the box includes mains, car and solar cables. Ports: four sockets, two 100W USB-C, two USB-A, the 30A RV terminal and a car socket. The manual's noise figure is 53dB, with Silent charging under 45dB. BLUETTI's handling table says three people for anything between 32 and 55kg. The warranty is six years, and BLUETTI UK takes returns within 30 days if unused and boxed.

Safety

The manual's safety page is blunt about rain: do not use the product in it, whatever the IP65 badge suggests. Charge between 0°C and 40°C and discharge between -20°C and 40°C. For storage the manual allows -20°C to 40°C for a month and -20°C to 25°C for a year, with a full cycle every three months. It names a dry powder extinguisher and requires an earthed socket. See our lithium battery fire safety guide and power station vs generator.

Our verdict

Buy it if you are building towards a multi-battery system for a van, workshop or house and want the weather resistance and 30A DC feed the indoor-only units lack. Skip it if one box is the plan: the Elite 200 V2 stores more energy in 9kg less and is rated for far more cycles, and the DELTA 3 Max Plus expands just as far at two-thirds the weight. At 33kg this is a unit you position once. Our sizing guide shows how much you need.

Who shouldn't buy this

Don't buy it if you won't add batteries: the Elite 200 V2 holds more, weighs less and costs less.

Questions

Is the BLUETTI AC240P waterproof?

No. BLUETTI's FAQ says it is IP65 water- and dust-resistant, meaning dust-tight and protected against low-pressure jets, but the manual's safety page rules out use in the rain.

How long does the AC240P take to charge?

In Turbo mode at 2,200W BLUETTI quotes 0 to 80% in 45 minutes and full in 70, but that needs a fast-charging cable sold separately. On the included cable, Standard mode at 800W takes about 130 minutes to full by the UK page, or about three hours by the manual.

Can the AC240P run a fridge-freezer?

Yes. By the site's runtime method a fridge-freezer averaging 12 to 51W runs 23 to 64 hours on the 1,843Wh battery, with up to 3,600W allowed for ten seconds for the compressor start.

How many B210P batteries can the AC240P take?

Four. BLUETTI's manual says four B210P packs take the system from 1,843Wh to 10,443Wh.
