EcoFlow DELTA 3 Max Plus Portable Power Station

The home-backup pick in EcoFlow's current range. 2,048Wh and a 3,000W output mean it runs a fridge-freezer, the boiler's pump and controls, the router, lights and chargers at the same time, and X-Boost stretches it to 3,900W for simple resistive loads. It recharges from empty in 68 minutes, takes 1,000W of solar, and its extra-battery port expands the system to 10kWh, which is what separates it from the plain DELTA 3 Max. At 22kg it lives where it is plugged in. EcoFlow does not publish a cycle-life figure for this model on its UK page, which is unusual for the brand, so we have not quoted one.

Our review
A 2kWh unit with a 3kWh unit's output: the DELTA 3 Max Plus pairs a 2,048Wh battery with 3,000W from four UK sockets and a 6,000W surge, in 22.1kg. What matters most is the extra battery port, which turns a day of essentials into several without buying a second machine. It suits a household that wants whole-home essentials covered now and the option to grow.
What the numbers mean
2,048Wh is about two units of electricity, of which roughly 1,570Wh reaches the sockets by our planning method (90% depth of discharge, 85% inverter efficiency). 3,000W continuous runs a 3kW kettle on its own, though not a 3kW kettle and a running fridge together, and the 6,000W surge covers compressor starts with room to spare. EcoFlow builds it on full-tab LFP cells but publishes no cycle count, only a ten-year lifespan estimate from internal simulation. EcoFlow rates the switchover at under 10ms and the noise at 25dB or less at 600W.
In a UK power cut
By our runtime method over the appliance-draw dataset, a fridge-freezer lasts 26 to 71 hours, a router 2 to 3 days, a CPAP on blower alone 2 to 4 days (19 to 51 hours with a heated humidifier), a laptop 20 to 39 hours, a television 7 to 36 hours and a gas combi boiler's pump and controls 12 to 35 hours. Fridge-freezer, router, four LED bulbs and a charging phone together give 9.5 to 28 hours; add the combi boiler and it is 5.5 to 17 hours. Boilers are hard-wired, so that needs an electrician's changeover first.
A 3kW kettle runs at full speed inside the 3,000W rating but takes about 50Wh a minute, roughly 3.2% of the usable battery. For fridges, EcoFlow's manual says to set the AC timeout to Never in the app, or the outlet can switch off after sitting idle for a set time. How it compares
The plain EcoFlow DELTA 3 Max has the same 2,048Wh but 2,400W, 500W of solar input, 20.3kg and no expansion, which is the whole difference. The BLUETTI Elite 200 V2 is 2,073.6Wh and 2,600W at 24.2kg with a published 6,000-cycle rating and a 15ms switchover, and it cannot grow either. Living with it
From a wall socket it draws up to 2,300W; EcoFlow quotes 0 to 80% in 47 minutes in optimal conditions and 68 minutes for AC charging in its specifications. Solar input is 1,000W at 11 to 60V, and a car socket can feed it at 12V or 24V, though the car cable is sold separately. Charging from empty costs about 54p per full charge at Ofgem's October to December 2026 cap rate of 26.32p per kWh, before losses. It is 494 by 242 by 305mm with no wheels. Ports beyond the sockets are a 140W USB-C, two 45W USB-C sharing 45W, one USB-A and 378W of 12V through an Anderson and a car socket. The warranty is three years, rising to five only if you register in the EcoFlow app, and uk.ecoflow.com orders can be returned within 30 days, with return postage and any transaction fee paid by the buyer.
Safety
No fuel, no exhaust, so it lives indoors; the difference from a generator is in power station vs generator. EcoFlow's manual gives a charging range of 0°C to 45°C and discharging from -10°C to 45°C, says to store it between -10°C and 45°C and ideally 0°C to 30°C in a dry, well-ventilated place, and for long storage to charge it fully then run it down to 60% every three months; it warns that leaving it uncharged or unused for more than six months voids the warranty. Our verdict
Buy it if you want a quiet, fast-charging unit that runs a kitchen's essentials today and can be doubled later, and you have a shelf near the sockets for a 22kg box. The expansion port is worth the premium over the plain Max only if you will use it; EcoFlow's own page notes the adapter for a second extra battery is still to come. Do not buy it for cuts of an hour or two, where a 1kWh unit is lighter and cheaper to run, and do not expect it to run electric heating for long. Our sizing guide settles the capacity question.

Who shouldn't buy this
Your realistic power cut is a few hours, not a day: a 1kWh unit keeps the fridge cold and the phones charged for that, at half the price and weight. And if you have a heat pump or electric heating you hope to run, no portable unit does that — this covers essentials, not heating.
