Firexo 2 Litre review

Firexo All Fires Extinguisher 2 Litre

By Tom Calder

Our verdict · Researched
4.3 / 5

Firexo says this water-based liquid unit is rated for solid, liquid and cooking-fat fires and is also suitable for electrical and lithium-ion battery fires. That breadth is why it suits a single spot near the kitchen better than a foam or powder unit does. It costs more than a basic foam extinguisher of similar size, but it avoids the question of which type to grab.

What we like

  • The 25F rating covers cooking oil and fat, which standard foam and powder units are not rated for.
  • Firexo says it is safe on electrical equipment and lithium-ion batteries, so one unit serves most rooms.
  • Water-based, so it leaves less mess than powder and does not cloud the air.

Worth knowing

  • Dearer than a basic foam or powder unit of the same capacity.
  • About four kilograms filled, and Fire Protection Online lists a 20 to 25 second discharge, so it is for a small fire caught early, never a spreading one.
  • Some owners report units arriving under-pressured or losing pressure within a year or two, so check the gauge is in the green on arrival and monthly.

Our review

Firexo's 2-litre extinguisher uses one water-based liquid that the maker says covers every class of fire a home is likely to see, including cooking oil, electrical equipment and lithium-ion batteries. That removes the question of which extinguisher to grab. It is a tool for a small fire caught early, and the gov.uk advice to get out, stay out and call 999 still comes first.

What it is

Firexo lists the rating as 13A, 34B, C, D, electrical, 25F and lithium-ion, made to EN 3-7 and EN 3-8 and CE marked. In plain terms: 13A for solids such as wood and fabric, 34B for flammable liquids, 25F for cooking oil and fat. Firexo states it can be used on electrical fires up to 1,000 V and on fires involving lithium-ion batteries.

It weighs 4.09 kg full and stands 415 mm tall, with a 110 mm cylinder. Discharge lasts 20 to 25 seconds, and it works from −15 to +60°C. The warranty is five years from purchase. An older Firexo data sheet gives slightly different weights and times, so treat the current product page as the reference.

Why one liquid matters at home

Most homes that own an extinguisher have a foam or powder unit, and neither is rated for a chip-pan fire. Powder also fills a room with fine dust that makes it hard to see and breathe. A single unit rated for solids, liquids, fat and electrics, kept between kitchen and hallway, means there is no wrong choice in the moment.

The lithium claim is increasingly relevant with e-bikes, scooters and power banks in the hall. Our lithium battery fire safety guide covers charging habits that prevent the fire in the first place.

What gov.uk says

The government's fire safety in the home guidance says extinguishers can be useful if the fire is very small or blocking your exit, and that if you choose to use one you should read the instructions before use and not put yourself in danger. Fire blankets are best kept in the kitchen. In the event of a fire: get out, stay out and call 999.

Twenty seconds of spray is enough for a pan or a smouldering bin, not a room. Firexo's own instruction is to discharge the whole contents from at least a metre away, and not to use the unit if the pressure gauge shows red. Check the needle is in the green when it arrives and every month after. Our house fire guide and kitchen fire guide cover the rest.

How it compares

On the comparison a 1m fire blanket to BS EN 1869 is the first tool for a pan fire and costs far less. The Firechief 1kg ABC powder unit is rated 8A 34B C but not for cooking fat. The FSS 2-litre AFFF foam is rated 5A 34B. Firexo's 500ml spray covers the same classes at a much lower rating, and its 6-litre unit is rated 34A 113B 75F for a larger house or workshop.

Our verdict

Buy it if you want one extinguisher for the home that also covers the kitchen and charging batteries. Skip it if you only want something for the car, or the outlay is the deciding factor: a fire blanket plus working smoke alarms does more for safety per pound.

Who shouldn't buy this

Skip it if you want the lowest purchase cost or only need a small car unit; a compact powder or foam model fits that better. For a pan fire, a fire blanket and getting out remain the first moves.

Questions

Can the Firexo 2L be used on a chip-pan fire?
